It depends mostly on the material and the footage. Published national guides, checked November 2026, range from about $8 per foot for basic chain link to about $55 per foot for aluminum or wrought iron, with block walls priced by the square foot of wall. There is no dated, Santa Ana-only price survey we trust, so treat these as a starting point and get a written estimate.

What moves the price on a Santa Ana job?
- Front-yard permit. A front fence over 18 inches adds a permit fee and some lead time.
- Narrow access. Hand-carrying materials through a side yard adds labor.
- Metalwork. Custom iron and welded gates cost more than stock panels.
- Removal. Old iron, wood or block has to come out and be hauled away.
- Gates. Each gate needs its own post, hinges and latch.
How do I get a firm number?
Measure the run roughly, decide on height and the number of gates, and note whether an old fence or wall is coming out. Then ask for an estimate that prices each of those as its own line.
