What makes a gate sag?
An undersized hinge post or a frame without bracing. We set gate posts deeper, use heavier hardware and add a steel frame to wide wood gates.

Swing or slide?
If the drive is flat and there is room, a swing gate is the easier choice. If space is tight or the ground rises, a rolling gate works better.
Can you add an opener?
Yes, swing and slide operators, keypads and remotes. Powered gates need safety devices and usually an electrical permit, which we plan for.
Front gates and the permit
A front walk gate or driveway gate is part of the front-yard fence. It shares the height cap and, if the fence is over 18 inches, the permit.
